THE BEACH - Within easy reach of Dalyan centre. Turtle Beach is approachable from two completely different angles – a lazy boat trip down the river or an exciting dolmus (small bus) ride through the mountains. 6km long, the beach is famous for being one of the last nesting sites for Caretta Caretta Loggerhead Turtles. Voted one of the prettiest beaches in the world it is very safe for children.

THE MUD BATHS - The mud is said to remedy rheumatism and has anti-aging properties (allegedly!). Enjoy covering your body with mud and let it dry in the sun. Then wash it off and take a relaxing dip in the sulphur pool. Not only does this make you feel refreshed and relaxed but it is claimed that it will make you look ten years younger.

SULTANIYE HOT SPRINGS - The water at these baths was first used in Kaunian times (5000 years ago), then by the Byzantines. The ruins from this period are still visible beneath the lake. Turkish people often make pilgrimages to the baths as the water is reputed to cure rheumatism, neuralgia and skin disorders.

KOYCEGIZ LAKE - At some point during your stay you should take a boat trip to this fresh water lake. Until 15 years ago this was the main form of transport around the local area and fishing was a major source of income, along with citrus and cotton farming. The lake is home to many species of birdlife and you have a good chance of seeing river turtles.

KAUNOS - This ancient city is believe to date from 3000 BC and was once a major port. It is now possible to see the city walls, an amphitheatre, 4 temples, Roman Baths and a Christian Church. Climbing to the top of the acropolis is worth the effort for the views but only advisable for those who are not faint hearted (you will need sturdy shoes).

EVENING LAKE BARBEQUE - Visit the lake on an evening for a ‘lake barbeque’, swimming under the stars and if the mood suits dancing on the boat. We use Salih (see Beach Barbeque) for this tour so there is plenty of room on the boat (and a toilet). Tour normally leaves 6.00 pm and returns 10.00 pm. £8 per person depending on numbers.

BEACH BARBEQUE - This trip has always been extremely popular with Manzara guests. We leave Dalyan by boat and head towards the sea. Instead of going to the more crowded bays we travel slightly further to ensure that we find a really peaceful, secluded beach away from the noisy crowds. This is where we sample Salih’s cooking, swim, sunbathe and generally take it easy. On the way back we make a few stops for swimming. The snorkelling is excellent around here. There is also a good chance of seeing dolphins. Salih, the captain, is a perfect host and his boat is well equipped with plenty of space for sunbathing or sitting in the shade, a cabin for changing as well as a toilet. Although there is a meat barbeque, delicious vegetarian food can also be provided. £12 per person depending on numbers.

FISHING & CRABBING - Alternatively we can arrange for Salih to take you crabbing and, if there is time, prepare and cook your catch before returning to Dalyan. Although you don’t travel as far there is still time for swimming, snorkelling and relaxing – and just in case you don’t catch anything Salih’s famous barbeque is also provided. A very popular trip with children. £12 per person depending on numbers.

HORSE RIDING - This is an excellent trip for either beginners or experts, and it really gives you the chance to see the local countryside and village life. We leave the villas at 10.00 am or 3.00 pm to avoid the midday sun and travel to Eskikoy, a nearby village. Here you will be introduced to your horse and taught how to ride Turkish style. The trip goes around the lake and up a steep hill which gives spectacular views of the whole area, and this is where you stop for fruit and drinks. The horses are not exactly thoroughbreds, but are very willing and easy to control even for first time riders, and you can go at whatever pace you wish. When you arrive back in Eskikoy you will be served local snacks and drinks, returning to the villas at around 6.00 pm. C £15 per person.

12 ISLANDS CRUISE - This is thoroughly relaxing day out. You are picked up from Manzara and taken on a beautiful 30 minute scenic drive to the nearby yachting marina of Gocek. There are even underwater ruins at one or two of the stops, and a Roman bath which Cleopatra bathed in (allegedly!).Prices vary according the type of boat – a double decker boat is the cheapest option costing around £15 per person or alternatively the more exclusive, romantic option is a sailing boat (gulet) at around £27 per person.
